About Dana

Dana Peck is a performer and educator passionate about sharing the harp on the stage and in the classroom. Dana currently works full-time as a harp instructor at the middle and high school levels, and also teaches privately. She also enjoys performing with various large ensembles and at events.

Dana has years of teaching experience in group classes, private lessons, and summer camps. Her students have gone on to major in harp, been placed in All-region groups, and consistently do well in solo and ensemble contests. Outside of the classroom, Dana also maintains an active private lesson studio.

Beyond teaching, Dana is an experienced large ensemble performer. She has performed with ensembles such as the Lone Star Wind Orchestra conducted by Eugene Corporon, the McKinney Philharmonic, and the Mansfield Philharmonic Orchestra. She also served as the Principal harpist for the Bakersfield Symphony for several seasons.

One of Dana’s favorite ways to share the harp with others is through performing at events. Performing at events creates opportunities to connect through music at life’s big moments, and for people who have not interacted with the harp discover it for the first time. Dana has performed at numerous events over the last 15 years, including holiday parties, baby showers, funerals, and weddings.

Dana holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from the University of North Texas. In addition to her Studies at UNT with Dr. Jaymee Haefner, she has had the opportunity of learning from other instructors, including Dr. Alison Bjorkedal. At UNT, Dana was involved in many types of performances, including those with UNT’s Wind Symphony, the UNT Harpbeats, the Symphony and Concert Orchestras, and an award-winning opera production of A Streetcar Named Desire. During her time with the UNT Harpbeats, Dana also gained experience in arranging for harp ensemble.

When not performing or teaching, Dana enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her pet cat.
